The World in a Grain of Sand...or grains...let us say...
The Sand Mandala event at Simmons Hall in MIT is on its way. Lobsang Samten with the help of Tenzin Priyadarshi are hard at work to complete this unique offering in sand: The Wheel of Life depiction, that one normally finds on tankhas...
When I saw it yesterday, the inner wheel with the six realms had been completed. It had all the quality of a child's fantasy creation, little people, some scary some normal looking...gentle hills and trees and some people fighting...some daemons...palaces and fleecy clouds...all in vibrant color, a light powdery blue predominating...right now, the outer ring depicting the 12 factors of dependent origination is being worked on...
